📢 Compute Cloud@Customer Now Supports Logging and Notifications — A Key Step Toward Observability
Stay informed. Stay optimized. Stay Oracle-smart.
Oracle has announced a powerful new capability for OCI Compute Cloud@Customer — the ability to send logs and notifications to OCI Logging and OCI Notifications services. This update, released in May 2025, represents a major leap forward in improving observability, transparency, and operational control for workloads running in your own data center.
What is Compute Cloud@Customer?
OCI Compute Cloud@Customer brings the power of Oracle Cloud directly into your data center. It allows enterprises with data residency, regulatory, or latency concerns to deploy OCI compute resources on-premises, while still leveraging the scalability, pricing, and services of the public cloud.
And now - with logs and notifications support, you can monitor and manage those resources with the same ease and confidence as you do in the public OCI regions.
What’s New?
The May 2025 update introduces the ability to:
Send Logs to OCI Logging
All operational logs from Compute Cloud@Customer can now be automatically routed to OCI Logging, where they can be indexed, searched, analyzed, and archived.
Trigger Notifications via OCI Notifications
You can now define rules and receive alerts through preferred channels — email, Slack, PagerDuty, or custom HTTPS endpoints — when specific log patterns or thresholds are met.
Why It Matters
This enhancement bridges a critical observability gap and brings enterprise-grade monitoring to your private cloud setup. Here’s what it unlocks:
-
📡 Unified Monitoring: Monitor public and on-prem OCI compute workloads through a single pane of glass.
-
🔔 Proactive Alerts: Set alerts for infrastructure changes, failures, or anomalies.
-
🔐 Audit Readiness: Maintain a detailed, immutable log trail for compliance and operational reviews.
-
🧠 Smarter Automation: Trigger functions or remediation scripts based on log events.
Use Case Scenarios
-
Private Cloud Ops Teams can now integrate on-prem compute with centralized OCI monitoring dashboards.
-
Security Teams can define log-based alerts for policy violations or suspicious access patterns.
-
DevOps Engineers can automate workflows when system performance metrics exceed thresholds.
Final Thoughts
This is a significant update for enterprises leveraging Oracle's hybrid cloud model. By enabling logs and notifications in Compute Cloud@Customer, Oracle is closing the loop on operational visibility and giving IT teams the tools they need to manage on-prem environments with cloud-native capabilities.
If you're building a secure, compliant, and observable hybrid cloud, this feature is a must-enable.
